SoDA student Claire Kelling awarded the Gertrude Cox Women in Statistics Scholarship from the American Statistical Association
Claire Kelling -- a dual-title PhD student in Statistics and Social Data Analytics, a BDSS-IGERT Fellow, and a current C-SoDA research affiliate -- was awarded the 2019 Gertrude Cox Women in Statistics Scholarship from the American Statistical Association.
To Claire Kelling, for her extraordinary leadership and volunteerism in developing safe, supportive and educationally rich environments especially for girls and women, including participation in relevant state and national committees, for academic success in pursuit of a dual doctoral degree in Statistics and Social Data Analytics at Pennsylvania State University, and for promising independent research in spatial statistics related to criminology.
The Committee
Claire is the second SoDA student to win the Gertrude Cox award. Michelle Pistner Nixon, also a dual-title student in Statistics and Social Data Analytics as well as a BDSS-IGERT Fellow, received the award in 2017.
