The SoDA degree programs were developed out of Penn State’s NSF-funded Big Data Social Science (BDSS) IGERT Ph.D. training program that ran from 2012 to 2018, and its precursor, the Quantitative Social Science Initiative (QuaSSI) that ran from 2004 to 2018.

SoDA offers three programs:

  • An undergraduate B.S. major
  • A dual-title Ph.D.
  • A doctoral minor
