Professional Bio
I am currently enrolled in Sociology and Social Data Analytics program at The Pennsylvania State University, where I work with Daniel Dellaposta.
My interests include analytical and computational sociology, social complexity, networks, social cognition, and collective behavior. I use Bayesian learning, agent-based modeling, epidemiological methods, spatial econometrics, and network analysis, among other tools, to understand how things (ideas, norms, behaviors, innovations, products, etc.) spread.
I am an alumnus of Istanbul Şehir University (RIP), where I studied Political Science, Sociology, and Psychology. I have also spent an exchange semester at the University of Bamberg, Germany. I have an MA in Political Science from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
I was previously a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at the State University of New York at Binghamton (where I also taught two original courses). I gradually became interested in collective behavior and decided to switch to Sociology.
I am also a member of Institutions and Policy Response to COVID-19 Lab led by Olga Shvetsova (my former adviser). We have published several articles on policy responses to the COVID-19 pandemic in Nature Scientific Data, Canadian Public Policy, Frontiers in Political Science, and Journal of Political Institutions and Political Economy..
